Transportation and Shipment of Media
IMPORTANT! If you have ANY questions or concerns, PLEASE
contact us before shipping your media. Improper shipping can irreversibly
damage media.
Audio and video tapes (and other media) can be safely shipped
to our Napa Valley headquarters facility by the use of UPS or FedEx. The media
should be packaged in bubble-wrap or other similar padding material, and placed
in a sturdy envelope or box to ensure their safety during shipping. It is
recommended that the packaging be marked "FRAGILE".
If chain-of-possession is an issue, a signature should be required of us
when we receive the tape(s) from the shipper. We will subsequently prompt the
return shipper to obtain a delivery signature from you when the tape(s) are
returned to you from our lab.
Important Note: If the recording is on an analog tape,
such a standard audio tape, VHS tape, microcassette tape, etc., it is important
to provide the most original copy to our analysts. The actual original
will provide the best outcome, but if it isn’t available, a good, first
generation copy should be used. Unless the media is digital, each time a tape is
copied there is greater loss of quality with each subsequent copy.
